Standard that all merchants are required to comply with to protect cardholder data.
As a merchant, you are responsible for safeguarding customer data.
PCI Compliance Tips:
- Avoid storing confidential customer information
- If you store data, like imprinter receipts, keep them in a secure area limited to
authorized personnel
- POS terminal software must be up-to-date
- Purge card data after each transaction
- Install and regularly update anti-virus software
- Maintain secure applications and systems
- Do not share or email passwords
- Change passwords every 30 days
- Only allow authorized personnel to run transactions
