What Should I Look For In A Payment Processor?

If you do not know what to look for or the right questions to ask when looking for a payment processor, it may be overwhelming, especially if you are new to accepting cards.  Consider the following when searching for a payment processor:

  • Payment Card Industry (PCI) Compliant Processor
  • Competitive rates and fees - set up fees, transaction fees, monthly fees, etc.
  • Availability of customer support - What are their hours? Are they open 24/7? Are they easy to reach?  Do you get a live person?
  • Terms and conditions – it's important to read over them
  • When fees are due – Will they be deducted daily, monthly, etc.?
  • Fast turnaround time of funds – How quickly will I get my money?
