The following sample stores show different and distinct integration and business challenges, and how each can be achieved with Sage Gateway and Sage Virtual Terminal. The merchants provided in the sample stores are for demonstration purposes only. Each sample store provides full explanation of the business challenge, integration techniques, and full web site source code for evaluation.

Sample Online Store: StayAfloat.org

Challenge
StayAfloat.org is a nonprofit organization devoted to helping underprivileged youth learn the water safety techniques they need to keep themselves afloat. Additionally, StayAfloat is considering the option of a recurring gift program to encourage donors to contribute more frequently.

Solution
With the Sage Virtual Terminal and advanced payment gateway, StayAfloat was able to easily integrate a secure, cost-effective online donation system into their website to accept credit card and ACH (automated clearing house) transactions. StayAfloat has also been able to increase donor retention with a recurring gift program, which allows donors to give a specified amount each month, quarterly, annually, etc. The online donation and payment processing solution provided StayAfloat with an easy method to manage donations and keep confidential donor information safe.

Sample Online Store: The Candy Apple Company

Challenge
The Candy Apple Company is the leading provider of Candy Apples in the State of Texas. The Candy Apple Company has no retail locations and has been strictly a mail order operation since its inception in 1998. The Candy Apple Company offers 5 varieties of Candy Apples to their commercial customers. They want to simplify the ordering process, lower billing and accounts receivable costs, and receive payments 24 hours a day.

Solution
The Sage Gateway and Virtual Terminal make it easy for merchants like The Candy Apple Company to increase efficiency by putting their storefront online. The Shopping Cart extensions within the Virtual Terminal allowed The Candy Apple Company to easily customize their Shopping Cart and Shipping Options.

Rather than use the Virtual Terminal's built in product management area, the developers for The Candy Apple Company chose to create their own 'form' based solution to interact with the shopping cart based on Sage's shopping cart specifications. The result is a clean and simple product order form. The product form integration works best for businesses that sell a small number of products that can be easily described and viewed on one form.

Sample Online Store: Metropolitan Water Works

Challenge
The Metropolitan Water Works Company is the billing and collection division for the Water District in Alexandria, Virginia. The Metropolitan Water Works is looking for a way to reduce costs and allow residential customers to pay their monthly bills via the Internet.

Solution
The Metropolitan Water Works Company needed a more advanced integration solution. Their web based payment customer interface must be able to interact with their internal database systems to verify account information, billing cycles, and amount dues for its customers. So rather than use the Sage Payment Solutions shopping cart to gather transaction data, they will use the technical specifications to integrate their own customized interface to the Sage Gateway.

The COM/ATL Object allows the Metropolitan Water Works Company to control all aspects of their interface and pass transactions for authorization real-time behind the scenes. All transactions are then accumulated in the Virtual Terminal and settled automatically at 3:00 AM EST by the Sage Gateway.

Sample Online Store: HealthQuest Fitness Club

Challenge
HealthQuest, technically a retail merchant because they see their customers face to face, is looking for a solution to easily provide multiple locations with processing functionality. They want to avoid the high costs of hardware and software support and deployment. HealthQuest needs to find a solution to handle their recurring credit card and ACH transactions (virtual checks) for health club memberships. In addition, HealthQuest needs the ability to create manual transactions in real time for snack bar, clothing and training purchases.

Solution
The Sage Gateway and Sage Virtual Terminal work together to provide a ready-to-run solution for companies like HealthQuest Fitness Club. The Virtual Terminal provides both credit card and ACH (virtual check) transaction processing capabilities. In addition, the Virtual Terminal provides extensive flexiblity for recurring transactions.

HealthQuest created 2 transaction groups for recurring transactions. The first group was for their primary location on Riverside Drive, the second group was for the Beacon's Way location. Then they created a variety of transaction schedules to coincide with the existing payment plans and options provided to members.

Recurring Transactions are run daily and emails are sent to HealthQuest's accounting office for reconciliation, etc. prior to settling their daily transaction batch for credit card and virtual check transactions.
