PIN vs. Signature Debit
Sage offers both types
of debit processing PIN(online) and signature(offline) debit.
Using PIN debit,
the customer enters debit as the payment method and then enters their PIN on the
pin pad after swiping the debit card. The transaction is transmitted via the electronic
funds transfer network and the funds are deducted from the consumer's checking account
within seconds.
Signature debit allows the customer to select credit as the payment method and
provide a signature in place of typing a PIN on a pin pad. The transaction is transmitted
through the Visa or MasterCard network, but the funds are still deducted from the
consumers checking account.
